Introducing the KONE Reusable Pourover Drip Filter

With much anticipation, we are pleased to finally have the KONE metal pourover filter designed specifically for pourover drip brewers like the Hario V60 Drippers and Chemex brewers!

The reason for our pleasure is because, a high quality, high performance, reuasable filter means less waste, and saves money over the long term, without sacrificing brew quality.

How it compares to other reusable filters

For starters, other reusable filters like the Swissgold and Bodum gold filters don't really work well with the pourover method.  The cup quality is usually quite inferior to a paper filter and the fines (sediment) that make it into the cup are often considerable.

Because the KONE was designed for pourover brewing, it actually brews a quality cup, and though there are fines that make it to the cup (as there are with any reusable filter) they aren't so numerous as to render your cup unpleasant.  In other words, you don't get that subconscious - trying to avoid coffee grounds in my next slurp kind of experience, like you do with other styles of reusable filter in a pourover drip brewer.  However, if you want a super clean cup, you need to stick with paper.

Using it with the Chemex or a V60 Hario Dripper results in a brew somewhere between drip filter and coffee press, with a heavier body like a coffee press but with less sediment.

Fits size 02 Hario V60 drippers and 6, 8, and 10 cup Chemexes.  Designed and manufactured in the U.S.A.

How to Brew Using a KONE Filter

COFFEE: 25-30 grams of great coffee

GRIND:  Same or slightly finer than medium drip.

WATER: 400 grams

Pour technique:

Pour 100 grams of water on coffee grounds in 15 seconds. Let this bloom for 45 seconds to 1:00. Then add remaining 300 grams of water gently pouring in the center only. Finish pouring at about 1:45 - 2:00 making the final drip time between 2:30 - 3:00.

Video/Commercial for the KONE from manufacturer.  Note: Chemex is used in video, but KONE will work in a variety of pourover drippers, including the Hario V60.
